PhysioRemedy Ltd
Sports Massage
Sports massage focuses on muscle tension, comfort and relaxation, whether you are active in sport or simply feeling tense from everyday life. Each appointment is tailored to your needs and can form part of your wider recovery routine.
Care tailored to your needs
Massage with an individual approach
Your goals, preferences and relevant health information guide the appointment. Pressure and positioning are agreed with you and can be changed at any time.
Understanding muscle tension
Tight or tired muscles can make movement feel less comfortable, whether after activity, desk work or a busy week. We start by listening to how you feel and which areas you would like us to focus on.
Massage is not a diagnosis for unexplained pain. If your symptoms suggest an injury or another health concern, a physiotherapy assessment or medical review may be more appropriate before massage is considered.
Movement and recovery routines
Massage can offer time to relax and focus on areas of muscle tension. Alongside suitable movement, rest and activity advice, it may support comfort within your recovery routine.
Your activity and training routine help us plan the appointment. Massage does not replace rehabilitation for an injury, and improvements in recovery or sporting performance cannot be guaranteed.
What happens at a massage appointment?
We discuss your symptoms, relevant health history and preferences before treatment. Together, we agree the areas to work on, a comfortable position and the pressure you prefer.
You remain in control throughout the appointment. Pressure can be reduced, positioning adjusted, an area avoided or treatment stopped. Appropriate covering and privacy should be maintained, with only the agreed treatment area exposed.
Assessment and suitability
Massage is not appropriate in every situation. Tell your practitioner about recent surgery, injuries, skin problems, medication and changes in your health so suitability can be considered.
Some concerns may require advice from your GP or another healthcare professional before treatment. If massage is unlikely to meet your goals, alternative assessment or guidance can be discussed without assuming that more pressure is better.
Planning follow-up care
After your massage, we can discuss how you feel and whether further support would be useful. Follow-up appointments are guided by your response and goals, rather than a fixed course of sessions.
If discomfort persists or changes, an assessment may be needed to understand the cause. Physiotherapy can provide a different route where movement, strength or rehabilitation needs require closer review.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need to play sport to ask about sports massage?
You can enquire about massage for individual comfort or activity needs even if you do not play sport. Suitability and service availability must be confirmed.
Does sports massage need to be painful?
Pressure should be discussed and adapted to your comfort. You can request a change or stop treatment at any point.
Can massage replace physiotherapy for an injury?
An injury may need assessment and rehabilitation. Massage is not a substitute for understanding unexplained symptoms or following appropriate medical advice.
Can I book this as an online consultation?
Massage is an in-person treatment. An online physiotherapy consultation is a separate service that may be appropriate for advice or exercise review.
